LAST DAY!! :D:D

Yes as you can see, it's finally the end of P1!!! we had all the group screenings today at 1pm...it took nearly 4 hours to screen everything but i really enjoyed all the videos...:] Well, out of all the videos shown, Tri's and Raj's videos stood out to me (as expected). It was DAMN AWESOME! Those people are the ones that makes my GPA low...lol. And people like raj should just go work in some great CG company or something...huge props man!! Oh and I thought Apple's video was awesome too...like the comedy/drama take to the project...and Andrea Lek's one was pretty good too...she's such a great actress. Now i know who to ask if i am short of actresses. :b

Anyway...we obviously had to show our video...there was a few mistakes and cough ups...:[ the audio was quite bad (i suspect too much noise removal...) and the back credit/bloopers are still laggy and choppy...though Yuan and me tried a ton of times to fix it both yesterday and today. The quality of our video wasn't as good as other groups but we can't do anything about it i guess. it's like photo-shopping a picture...u can only do so much to save it. :b But really, past is past...i'm just relieved and super glad it's over!! just hope we did well enough to pass...cause i felt like we put in quite alot of effort!

Yesterday, Yuan and me stayed in school to do all the warping effects and editing and rendering stuff till the security had to chase us out of the room. lol. And we came at 10 in the morning to finish the editing (colour correction etc.) and transfer the whole thing to tape. It was really hectic man! super stressed cause deadline was 12 and we have not transfer by then...but luckily it was extended to 1pm and we manage to transfer on time. :] so yea i'm pretty tired actually. :]
can't wait for a looooooong sleep! :D

well i guess i've learnt quite alot from project 1...i learn that time management and planning is super important. I also realise that next time, we'll have to keep lighting in check and also the settings and format should be consistent throughout all the edited clips...yea. And don't take things for granted! Okay enough with all that boring talk and stuff...it's time to celebrate cause...

MOI project 1 is FINALLY OVER!!! :D:D:D:D time for a holiday and relaxation and a break from all that stress and projects! woootness! :] Thanks to everyone who helped us along the way and of course, to my group members. These 2 months has been both stressful and fun...and also a learning experience and journey. looking at all the videos today, i really realise how much all of us has learnt the past year...if u ask me to make a video before i entered moi, i would have probably failed miserably. :b

so yea, it's time to relax and paarrrtttaaaay!! well..until year 2 starts. :b

The final lap...:D:D

Yesterday, which was day 29 (i think), was very busy like i predicted. Many groups stayed back and yuan, kirin and me stayed till 11 something. :O but its okay cos we're 90% complete!! :D:D

We did a whole lot of things man!! so exhausted...i did audio editing (too bad school got no adobe audition...great program for noise and hiss removal imo), video editing, help yuan with her Alan animation and finished the bloopers. Yuan did her Alan animation, credits (which is put together with bloopers), typed out the video concept and the silent movie! imovie rocks...lol. Kirin helped yuan with the silent movie and credits...and retype the script and did the photography animation. Jas did the 2D art fun animation...yay good job people!! :D:D So glad we're almost done! Today, all we'll need to do is join the credits/bloopers and silent movie together with the rest of the video...then do final editing on audio and add the warping effects, render then we are good to go! yayayay! hope we can render finish today and transfer the video onto tape. :b yay can't believe its going to be over soon! :]

Day 28...i think.

it's day 28 i think...not too sure cause i'm blogging on a sunday! :o anyway, we were suppose to meet today but yuan has fever (get well soon!!!) and kirin cannot make it so it's cancelled. I'm pretty worried now actually cause tuesday is the submission of our video and we haven't put all the clips back together, add effects, edit audio, do the credits/bloopers and our production package! like gfhkajgfaksd!! i've done my animating (which is the one where the 4 of us walks up the stairs and goes into school, and now, flies into the classroom lol) yesterday...Yuan is doing the intro animations and Alan and the best part is, she forgot to save and her laptop shut down on her! so she has to do it again...man poor girl! it just keeps happening to her. :O Kirin and jas are doing the comdi and signboard animations...hopefully everything is completed by 2mr...i see a long day ahead of me 2mr. *sigh* hope the audio editing wouldn't take long...we still have to like add music and all the stuff.

We got to see the other group videos on wednesday i think...it was freaking good...some of it was so professional! esp tri and raj's groups...gahh! *stressed* i really want our video to be at least good enough for us to move on to year 2 and for us to proudly showcase...and i want project 1 to be over soon. I so want that holiday!!!

okay so 2mr we shall focus and work work work! we can do it people!! (hopefully :x)

Day 25 and 26

On friday, we didn't meet up cause yuan had something on and i was going to...SAOSIN AND INCUBUS CONCERT!!! it's was hdfgjkfskhgskl-ing AWESOME!! :D:D so worth $97...:D Although i'm a bigger saosin fan, i felt that incubus had better musicianship...though saosin interacted more with the crowd. Maybe it's the sound system cause we could hardly hear the vocals in the front row...fort canning sucks. lol. we got pulled out after 2 of incubus songs cause the pushing and squeezing was so hard we could hardly breathe. loads of fainting people. :O but still pretty glad we were in the front row...cause we had a great view. :D

Anyway we wanted to meet on sunday but we cancelled it...today, jas is sick and our video is in her com so we couldn't really do anything...but now she's rendering it and she's going to send us the rendered video so we can animate and edit in school...next time we should make more back ups. :] yea so now that we're waiting, i'm updating my blog...and yuan should updatetoo since she's still stuck on day 16...*looks to right and wiggles eyebrows*

Day 23 and 24

We edited our video in premiere pro yesterday! :D although it's not the final version. We did a rough cut so that we would know how long the whole video would be...and it all comes up to only 7 minutes! :O but nevermind...we can solve it with credits and bloopers. :b

while doing the editing, we had a ton of clips to delete cause there were so many NGs. and i realised that we should have uploaded our stuff everyday instead of uploading it all on the same day cause editing everything can be a real...horror. lol. and i realised we shouldn't all sit there and edit together! pretty time consuming actually...

today, since jas is absent, we can't render the video since it's in her com. but its okay...she'll help us render while we work on character design.


ahhhh can't believe the concert is tmr! but it keeps raining nowadays...i hope it doesn't rain tmr cause it's open air (fort canning). ahh that is quite a bad venue cause theres a sloping hill which makes moshing near impossible and last year at singfest losts of people at the barricades got crushed during avenged sevenfold's set. :[ singapore should really get a proper venue for bands...and no, esplanade does not count.

Day 21 and 22

For day 21, yuan and me came to school to meet wahida but we didn't in the end. o.o yuan left early while i stayed and waited for Gina and my friend till 4. During that time, i captured the whole video to premiere pro and then edited abit of the front of the video. Yea...thats it for day 21. :]

For day 22, kirin, yuan and me came to school and we met with wahida to update her alittle. Then later, we found out that the 3D lab which we were using to do our editing would be closed today and tmr...so we transfered all our files to Wendy's hard drive. (thanks wendy!) We wanted to copy the files to another computer but clinton brought wendy's hard drive home to copy their files to his home computer...so we couldn't do anything for the next 2 hours. So we just sat around and hang out with some of our other classmates who were slacking. (lol!) by the time we got back the hard drive, it was quite late already and so we decided to just do the transfer and edit tmr. :]

oh yes! i know this have nothing to do with project update but...Gina and me are going for INCUBUS AND SAOSIN CONCERT!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!! :D:D:D:D can't believe it! so happy jfhjkhgalyrlity!! it's this friday! ahhh hasn't reaslly hit me yet...last time i used to get excited weeks before a concert but now, i usually get excited on that day or the day before only. hope the novalty isn't wearing off or anything. :]

Day 20

We finished filming today!! YAYAYAYAYA!!! it's a WRAP! :D

we shot finish animation fundamentals and photography modules. awesomeness!! i'm pretty glad and relieved that we have done the filming part...now all theres left is animating and editing. :] 2mr we're going to show wahida what we've done so far...

Day 18 and 19

Yesterday, we didn't really shoot anything because kirin was sick and since Jas is living pretty far from school, i told her not to come cause it would take a whole lot of time. So anyway, yuan and me just went to school to help yi chuin's group for a while and tried to shoot the intro but it didn't really work. :[ but anyway, thanks shol, JY and clinton for helping anyway. :]

So today, we got yi chuin and shermin to help us again (FANKS! :D), can't believe we need to take 3 days to get the right shot. Then we shot the comDI one and helped yi chuin's group again and then went to complete the class scenes. Yea so basically, we kinda got quite alot of things down. :D:D

2mr, we're going to shoot animation and photography then it would be a wrap! and then we can animate over the video layer and add audio and edit and all. Oh yes, yuan got the butterfly for photography so yayness! fanks!

Day 17

Today, we finished about 1/4 of the shooting already so yayness! :D:D good job people! we're all pretty tired now. :] we were suppose to shoot the comDI and classroom scenes but last minute, zaihan told all of us to bring the 2D fundamental paintings up by 5pm. :O so we had to quickly shoot our 2D scene and also the silent movie where jasmine pokes alan stomach. Speaking of which, Alan is not available, so we guess we'll have to animate Alan then...:O gahhh! more animating to do. :[

Yea but overall, we did quite alot today! woooot! and oh how can i forget? We're confirmed going for Incubus and Saosin's concert! YAYAAY!! :D:D so happy! Someone started a thread on internet asking for 10 people so we can all pay lesser...so Gina, 2 of our friends and me signed up. :] can't wait to get the tickets! just thinking about it makes me so....spazzed! :D:D

Tmr, we're going to be shooting the intro again and the comdi/classroom scenes i think...and do the green monster animation (ahh! just when i thought we'll never have to see that little piece of...crap again. :b)

Day 15 and 16

Yesterday, we had the interim presentation. We didn't actually prepare for it at all...:O other groups did powerpoint stuff and all and we were sorta panicking a little. Luckily, we managed to come up with a presentation in time and bullsh*t our way through it. :]

Seeing the other groups' presentation made me realise that we are quite behind...or maybe because i panic alot? i don't know...i think that 3 weeks is not alot of time...and we have A TON of animation work to do, so...yea.

Anyway, today we came up with a new timeline again (cause we are currently finding it hard to stick to the old timeline at the moment). Yuan is going to send us the timeline and maybe later i'll post it up...We have to reshoot the intro again...very long story. i'm quite lazy to elaborate now. :]

oh yes!! how can i forget? SAOSIN is opening for INUBUS on march 7!! :D:D yayayay!! but tickets are so expensive...gahhh! what do they think we're made up of? cash? D: even student price is 115 bucks...but i heard theres a deal...if you get 10 people to buy with you, everyone can pay $95 each! saving $20 is much better than nothing...so whos up for it? comment back if you wanna do the group pricing thingy...:D but most likely there won't be a response cause no one in their right minds would wanna read a boring blog like this. XD

man LAMC productions have such a good marketing strategy...attracting the adults with incubus and the youths with saosin...i LOVE saosin and appreciate incubus's music...but yet it's to pricey...worse than singfest tickets. but at least it's better than linkin park's ticket price...ahh dilema.

Day 14

Today, we shot our intro! :] (the one where the camera follows jasmine into design school) pretty glad with how it turned out...though we'll need to do some editing...we took a total of 5 tries...cause random people came in at random times and some even looked straight at our camera lens. o.o probably one of the worse things to get when shooting...

Tomorrow is the interim...we haven't edited anything yet and so far we've only shot 1/10 of our planned video...so i guess there'll be not much to show yea? But anyhoo we'll just show our script and storyboarding stuff...yea.

Day 12 and 13

On day 12, we waited for 3 hours before we could get our script approved. o.o so yes, one day gone.

Today (day 13), we went to shoot! but the camera was being an arse cause it wouldn't allow us to playback. D: damn the school cameras...i guess thats what u get when over 150-ish students share the same few cams. we had to keep going to the loan shop to get it cleaned and stuff...we ended up having to reuse a used tape cause our new one isn't really working...

so anyway, we managed to get the parts where our animated figures come to school and meet down. We also did a trial run of the intro, where jas is walking into school and stuff. seems to be working rather well...but the timing is something we all have to look out for. so tomorrow, we're going to finish the intro...:]

Day 9,10 and 11

For day 9, the whole group was present! :] we did storyboarding i think... can't exactly remember cause i have short term memory...:O this is what i get when i forget to blog...booooooooo!

For days 10 and 11, Jas was sick...so it was just kirin, yuan and me. :[ but we managed to finish up on storyboarding and the script. kirin typed out a more detailed script with all the information for camera movements and audio while me and yuan shared the storyboarding work between ourselves. we also listened to a couple of mp3s that i had picked out...:]

while storyboarding, i realised we actually left quite a few details out. :o but we managed to get it all sorted out. we also had a consultation with wahida and i think that helped a little...accroding to wahida, there must be an objective for every scene or idea we make...honestly speaking, we didn't think about objective AT ALL. but some how we managed to bullsh*t our way through the explanantions and in fact they sounded pretty darn good! wooot! design school really help us to bullsh*t eh? and funny how it seems to relate to design history and culture (the other module we're taking). it's almost like, if u can crap up a reason for painting something, it can be considered art. o.O this world really works in mysterious ways...

yea anyway after we got out our objectives, we kinda had more ideas on how to connect everything and we also decided to add our little animated characters from the beginning into the whole video, popping out with signs when necessary. that might help people to understand what module we are talking about and stuff...we'll need to update jasmine and then maybe we'll begin shooting on monday. :] gaaahhh hope there's enough cameras in school...it's so sad that all the year ones to threes have to fight for a limited number of cameras...

Day 8

Today, yuan had bad bad cramps so she couldn't come for today's lesson. :[ man cramps really sucks balls isn't it? it's so unfair that we females have to suffer monthly...but i guess the world is just not fair...

So there was only kirin and me. but it's ooorigh...we still manage to write out the whole script and reccee the places we are shooting at...quite glad we got those down. we're going to show the script to jasmine tomorrow...then maybe we can start shooting sometime this week. :]

yea so thats it.

Day 7

heya! back from the CNY holidays *sobs*. it was quite hard to get up and go to school today...i wish the celebrations were longer!! :[ all the visiting, goodies, ang baos, gambling, company...if only it was like that all year round! (minus the chinese new year songs which makes my ears bleed, and the bad tv programmes/movies they show on mediacorp tv...did anyone see the china one? gosh it was hella cheesy).

Anyway today we all had group discussions again. Since Jasmine is in malaysia, theres only kirin, yuan and me but we manage to get alot of things covered. We finished storyboarding and it was tons easier for us to plan what we need to get and stuff. Our storyboard is a draft though so yuan and me are going to draw the storyboards out nicely...

we even made a timeline...we probably won't be able to follow it through exactly but at least we have a plan. :] and we'll need to see if jasmine can make it for all the allocated dates so...yea. :]

tomorrow we're going to look for places to shoot at and stuff...yea, the end.

oh and how can i forget? we finally got a group name! it's "looney bin". lol. you know like looney toons? i am very aware that our group name= an asylum but we got it from dictionary.com. :b yea...

Day 6

Alo once again! today we had presentation and that alone took up the whole lesson. :o our group was sort of prepared but we didn't give as much details as our lecturer would like. We got to see all the other group presentations in our class too and man, some of them are really fast! they got quite a lot of details and some of their ideas/contents sound really cool. After i saw some of the presentations, i realise we're actually quite slow. :S and when i ask some of my other classmates for their opinions on our presentation, they told me they didn't really get it. :x gahhh must buck up! i think yuan and me kinda panicked a little and jasmine and kirin had to calm us down. rofl.

yea anyway...now that presentation is over, we can enjoy our Chinese new year holidays!! :D:D then after that we must get started on our project...boooooooooo...

anyway, stress aside...yay!! CNY the next 5 days!! the longest holiday on singapore's calendar and the time where we get more pocket money and can eat all those goodies without feeling guilty! wooot! ahhh the ba kua and all...:D:D and extra moolah for me to go watch more gigs...:b and...no updating of blog for 5 freaking days!! YAYAY! :b

Day 5

Today, all we needed to do was discuss about tomorrow's presentation (ahhh...i don't really like presentation...makes me all nervous :S) and kinda finalise whatever we have discussed so far. Jasmine, who thought today was the presentation day, stayed up all night (or rather, morning. :b) doing the powerpoint slides! :O *pats back and hands coffee* so we actually had our slides all done up already! :] so we had the whole day to go grab some food and draw out some storyboards...we only got to draw like 2 pages? we shall not digress people! :]

while storyboarding, we decided to change the beginning cause it was too...abrupt. yea...so i guess tomorrow we will be presenting whatever we have and maybe we can try to finish up the storyboard? most likely we won't cause we are such lazy asses. :b

Day 4

Hey again! Anyway, for today's lesson, we got to watch a bit of a documentary which wahidah showed. It was mostly made up of home videos and stuff...i actually thought that style is quite cool. :] After that, she showed us the beginning of "bowling for columbia", another of micheal moore's documentaries. i love micheal moore's sense of humor and sarcasm. i should watch more of his shows...the only one i saw is Fahrenheit 911...a really good movie imo, go watch if you haven't. it's quite an eye opener...

After that, she let us all get into our groups and continue discussion. We manage to kinda finalise what we'll be doing and we all agreed to share all responsibilities (audio, editing, etc.) Since we have a presentation due on tuesday, Jasmine offered to do the powerpoint. :] fankies!!!

Since the lecturers want details, i shall give them their desired details. :]

Instead of giving each member in the group 2 minutes to showcase all their work, we will be covering different modules instead. We decided to do comDI first, then animfun, photography and than lastly, 2D art fun. In the beginning, all of us would be remincing about the past year together and from there, we'll warp into the past. We will do 2 modules in every flashback and go back to reality from time to time with the appropriate dialogue to keep it moving. :] So it's kinda like a story just that it's by flashbacks...get it? i'm not sure if i understand myself either lol. We got a pretty cool ending too...i'm quite excited to get started! and at the same time, i know it's going to be pretty tough...

yea...guess thats it. :] pretty glad we won't have to blog during the weekends. :D

Day 3

Alo again. :] Today's lesson was quite nice cause all 60 moiers were gathered in the lecture room to watch some short examples from movies and documentaries. Jasmine didn't come though cause she's sick. :[ *pats back*

Anyways...our lecturers; Ronald, Alfie and Wahidah showed us a couple of videos they've picked to help us with our projects. Alfie showed LORD OF THE RINGS!!! i love love that show, like the other 41236523751274 people in the world...:] Gina and me were so crazy about the trilogy at one point that we even collected all 3 of the collector's dvds...:O i think i should have a LOTR movie marathon next time when we're free. :] it's been a while since we've watched it...

Okay, moving on...Alfie also showed us this documentary about some mountain climbing expenditure...it was pretty dull imo. The beginning was nice but they continued with the same thing (fast-forward motion. forgive me if the terms aren't right cause we haven't studied film language :b) for like, a very long time. And it was hella shaky and the audio was quite bad too...:O i guess it's everything we SHOULDN'T do in our project. Alfie later showed the making of gangs of new york. i thought it looked interesting so gina and me went to borrow the movie to watch. it's ooorigh i guess...and pretty long as well. :O I think that in Singapore, we'll probably won't have the chance to do that kind of big scaled-set...cause no.1, u probably need a TON of money. no. 2, Singapore is too small. no.3, we'll probably have to go through a 101 shitty things before we can get permission. no wonder it's so hard to be film makers in Singapore and people choose to go overseas to further their studies. :x i better not say anything more about our government in case i get an invite to have tea with "the family". :]

alright next, Ronald showed us a bit of monsters inc. (ahhh good good movie), ending of shoot me up (cool animation! and so creative! the blood dripping down the credits is super rad!) and the beginning of iron man, the animated one that is. :] After that wahidah showed us some old documentary...i honestly don't remember what it was about cause i was getting kinda restless by then. But it looked like a film my secondary school history teacher would show...i think thats it? i can't help but feel i missed out something...

But anyway, the lecturers told us that we and our seniors tend to forget about audio and set design. I think audio is soooo important...and in fact, i'm hoping after poly, i'll get a degree in audio engineering/production or something. :]

okay that was a long rant and my mom's room aircon is freezing my fingers...so i think i'll stop here. till next post. bye bye! :D

Day 2

Booyaa again! As told, i'll have to blog about today's class like everyone else (boring!). i seriously wonder how people can manage to update their blogs all the time...cause it's only my second entry and i'm already feeling lazy. Or maybe it's just me. The idea of having to blog EVERY SINGLE DAY just kills me. Maybe we'll have a break from blogging on chinese new year? (yay!! ang bao! :D:D)

Anyway today, we all had to view everyone's blog entries, which was pretty dull imo. Maybe it's because we all have not got started on our project yet and everyone was writing about the same thing (eg. meet in LT, grouping, brainstorm bleh bleh bleh). Our lecturer said it was all not detailed enough etc. Some people in our class voiced out their opinions and thoughts that the reason why we're all not writing in detail is because we don't wanna spoil it for everyone, which i totally agree. And...we're afraid people might steal each other's ideas. Or maybe, people who have came up with the same ideas might be accused of copying off each other. :S ahh all those complicated stuff which me and probably some people would like to avoid. But i do see where the lecturers are coming from and their objective of making us write online diaries though. But i can't imagine having to read all 20 diaries everyday in class. D: or updating for the next...how many weeks about project stuff...

Okay anyway enough ranting. We all continued on with our group discussions after a break. Kirin was not present cause she's sick :[ (GET WELL SOON!! :]) so it was just yuan, jasmine and me. Though we were short of one member, we managed to kinda finalise how we want our introduction and conclusion to be. The middle part, where all of our works and stuff get introduced was not confirmed yet cause we need kirin's opinion and input as well. tomorrow, if all is finalised, we can move on to delegating responsibilities and also planning the timeline.

In addition to finalising what techniques we would be using (animation, silent film etc.), we also identified what programs we'll need to gain access to and also, we decided on what type of music we're going to use. :D:D we're thinking along the lines of electronic rock/drum and bass sort of stuff. I'm going to check out a band Jasmine was talking about (daft punk) and probably try to get my hands on cobra starship's latest album. :b *has great flashbacks of singfest 07* can't wait for singfest 08!! i am sooo going!! :D:D and shiny toy guns! and hellogoodbye! if you haven't heard of them check them out! :]

okay i better come back down to earth. :D we were all told to come up with 2 objectives for our video and one member had to present it to the class. After that, we were given some useful links which might help in our project...i have yet to check it out and it's pretty late already so i guess i'll do it after i get some sleep. :]

we'll be watching past works from the other years tmr so yay! :] i wanna get an idea of how others execute their work and maybe, it might give us even more ideas. :D

Day 1

Hey. I've never written a blog before so this is kinda weird. Anyway, i've thought of starting a blog many times before after reading some of my friend's blogs but i was too lazy to do so (as usual). But since we're all forced to make one for our school project, MOI project 1, i have finally done that. so...yay. The ironic thing is that one of my best friends and us (gina and me) were talking about starting a blog soon for fun and today we're required to make one. o.O Anyway, if you're just some random visitor, don't bother to read on cause it'll most probably be quite boring. *cough*just coursework diary stuff *cough*. But if you're one of the lecturers or my classmates than boooyaa. :]

Ooorigh, on to the update. Today was our first lesson. All the MOIers had to gather in a lecture room and we got briefed and all. We have to make a video showcasing what we have learn the past 10 months or so. Sounds like serious propaganda to me. :O Then we went to our own classes and we were told to form our own groups of 4 or 5 people. My group members are Jasmine, Yuan ming and Kirin. :D:D wassup brudders!! *looks around shiftily for mats*

Anyway we all got to brainstorm and all and our group came up with a ton of ideas. i think we got pretty excite at one point. :b (think borat people) The thing is if we can execute the ideas...

anyway, thats it for today's lesson. I'll probably have to update almost everyday for the next one month or so. *feels tired already*.
